These reef fish are most often found in the moderately deep waters surrounding Rottnest Island. During spring and summer, however, some individuals move into shallower waters and are occasionally caught from shore.
Just a few kilometres off the West End of Rottnest Island, the continental shelf drops away rapidly to great depths and it is in this area that apex predators can be found.

Rottnest Island is located 10 nautical miles west of Fremantle and boasts dozens of spectacular bays and coral covered reefs.
There is a multitude of activity’s to do on and around the island from surfing, diving, snorkeling, paddle boarding and cliff jumping to the more easy going like a round of golf on Rottnest’s 18 hole course, hiring bikes, Quokka selfies and generally just lapping up the 28 degree warmth offered by the many shallow water basking pools carved out of the reefs.
